Beginning :: Set in Stone Book 1 :: rough draft.

It’s taken quite some time. Previously, I had the idea for this series in 2016. It has been something I’ve thought about often, about the characters and themes and the twists and turns. However, I couldn’t totally decide what Set in Stone ought to look like. I feel I have come a long way as an artist since then, as well as a storyteller.

The primary reason it took so long to begin was I was never happy with the renderings I could develop for my main characters: SeRa and Horace. Character roles kept changing, the story kept changing, the overall cosmology of the world itself kept getting re-writes and re-edits, I struggled to get everything to “fit“. And even their names (yes their names) were something I waffled on several times. I had a desire to be extremely clever, but failed to act on that desire for fear that my first real comic would be a genuine flop.

Honestly, what I set to go about here is a long story, longer than maybe it ought to be. But for now, I am just happy to get it started.

My hopes is that eventually it can grow. More artists, more involvement, more readers, more fans, I want people to fall for the characters I’ve spent the last 2 and a half years obsessing over.

Currently, I have 120 page thumbnails, and I am moving onto script. The major characters, and all of their larger turning points have already been decided, the ending, the world building, it’s done. What’s to do now is actualize it. Make it real. Write it, and draw it.

Here’s to the future.
