A character I worked on for the month of October. The theme was demons and devils.

I wanted to run with a more wican design, something of a natural evil. A strong contrast of vibrant reds and blues against earthy greens and browns. He's rough in places, but I am happy with the progress he shows.

Earlier depictions envisioned Nameno as a tragic and vengeful spirit of a drowned monk.

Synopsis

An enlarged giant African snail sheltered on the island of Yakushima, Japan. It's long storied history has had it evolve in the minds of the locals from that of a dreadfully tragic yokai to that of a joyous guardian spirit. This is the origin creature of these fairy tales.

With time, the tales of Nameno would change him into an optimistic figure, eternally joyous. While his story remains in a lot of ways tragic, he now finds joy with the absurdity of his situation.

Considering using this format and expanding on it, giving more creatures the full spread treatment. I have about 8 or 9 pages of story attached to it as well, though I am trying to find a better way of posting that aside from a text dump.
